Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka shankar is an British and American sitar player. She also performs music. She was the first woman in her age group to be a member of the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka shankar is one of India's rising stars in the sitar. She is the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. She spent her childhood bouncing around from London and New Delhi. At the age of 13, she gave her debut performance on stage in New Delhi. In the following years the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school. She graduated with distinction in the year 1999. Her career as a musician and performer is remarkable, even at her age. Since quite some time, she has been performing regularly with her father. Her debut solo album Anourag in the year 1998. The following year, she released the Grammy nominated album Live in Carnegie Hall. Because she has performed on many of the biggest stages around across the globe, she's performance career has been expansive. Anoushka Shankar's professional life isn't limited to music. Bapi: The love of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she appeared as the role of a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Her career continues to grow and she is expected to achieve great success in the future. Anoushka Shankar was born in England and spent a lot of her childhood in London and Delhi then moving to California in the state where she attended high school. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration Anoushka first made an appearance as a sitar player in front of an audience just four years after her 9-year-old father. Anoushka was a part of her father throughout his global tour, gained a remarkable quantity of knowledge. In her teenage years she performed at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and even recorded with George Harrison. She was the youngest and only female winner of the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament in recognition of her musicianship and talent as a leading musician of music in Asian Arts.
